FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas rallied for a 3-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, finishing the regular season second in the West.
The result gives Dallas home-field advantage in its opening best-of-three playoff series against the Portland Timbers.
Kaick put Dallas in front with his fifth goal of the year and later set up the next score, giving him a goal and an assist in the same match for the first time this season. Joaquin Valiente struck in the 75th minute for his third goal, and Santi Moreno added his fifth to put the match away.
Valiente, who also assisted on 13 goals this season, tops the club with 49 key passes. Kaick reached a career-best 33 appearances, matching Christian Cappis for the team lead, and Moreno closed the year with nine goal contributions.
Dallas finished 16-8-10 with 58 points, the third-best total the club has posted. Under second-year coach Eric Quill, the team also scored a club-record 62 goals, won seven road games and landed among the top five clubs in the league for the first time since 2016.
Colorado ended its season at 12-15-7 with 43 points. The meeting was the 100th between the two clubs across all competitions, making the Rapids the first opponent to reach that mark against Dallas.
A sellout crowd of 10,925 watched the Decision Day finale. Dallas has also qualified for Leagues Cup 2027, its second straight trip to the event after beating Queretaro FC and Chivas Guadalajara in the 2026 edition. The club locked up its playoff berth back on Oct. 14.
