DALLAS, Texas — Dallas Trinity FC needed 70 scoreless minutes to find a way through Fort Lauderdale United FC on Sunday, Nov. 1, then scored three goals in a 15-minute burst for a 3-0 win at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. It was the club’s first league win since Sept. 18.
The game turned early in the second half when Fort Lauderdale midfielder Taylor Smith was sent off after a second yellow card. Dallas pushed numbers forward, and forward Seven Castain broke through in the 71st minute, putting away a loose ball after a free kick. It was her fourth goal of the season, which pulls her even with Jasmine Hamid atop the team scoring list.
Juliet Moore, known as LJ, made it 2-0 four minutes later, heading in a ball from defender Sydney Cheesman for her first official goal with the club. Kalea Eichenberger added the third in the 86th minute, her first as a pro, on a pass from 15-year-old Kaiya Brewer. Brewer was playing her first professional match and is now the youngest player ever to take the field for the club.
Goalkeeper Neeku Purcell kept the game level in the 20th minute with a diving save on a low shot from close range. Head coach Lee Nguyen made three changes to the lineup that lost 1-0 at DC Power.
A crowd of 2,116 turned out at Fair Park for Youth Sports Night, the team’s first league match there since Sept. 13. Dallas improved to 4-4-2 with 14 points, while Fort Lauderdale fell to 2-8-1. Dallas is 2-0 against Fort Lauderdale this season and 5-1-3 in the series overall. Brewer had already scored for Dallas in the State Fair Clasico friendly against Chivas de Guadalajara Femenil before her league debut.
