MIAMI, Fla. — Cooper Flagg put the game on his shoulders down the stretch, and the Dallas Mavericks came out of Miami with a 113-109 win over the Heat on Monday night at Kaseya Center.
Flagg went 12 of 23 from the floor for 29 points and also handed out 11 assists, grabbed six boards, made four steals and blocked two shots. Kyrie Irving scored 18, while P.J. Washington chipped in 20 points to go with nine rebounds. Off the bench, Walter Clayton Jr. hit six of his seven shots for 15 points. The win evened Dallas at 2-2.
Miami had chances to pull away. The Heat built a 12-point lead in the second quarter behind a burst of 3-pointers from Bobby Portis Jr., but the Mavericks went to the locker room up 53-52. Miami pushed back ahead by 10 in the third and carried an 84-83 edge into the fourth.
The game was tied midway through the final quarter before Flagg converted a three-point play that made it 104-97 with 4:52 left. After the Heat closed within 106-103, he buried a 3-pointer for a 111-105 lead. Miami got as close as 111-109, but Andrew Wiggins missed a 3-point try and Dallas got the ball back with 31 seconds to go. Flagg then drove for a layup with 10 seconds left to seal it.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 29 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists for Miami, his first triple-double since April 2025, and Davion Mitchell scored 21. Bam Adebayo was held to eight points on 3-of-10 shooting as the Heat fell to 0-4. Dallas got a boost from its defense late, and Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said the Mavericks’ switch to a zone slowed the Heat’s driving game in the closing minutes.
