The ranking system awards 20 points to the top team in classes 6A and 5A, with a decrement of one point for each subsequent rank, down to five points for Class 4A teams and 10 points for private schools. The compiled rankings are derived from composite scores of individual votes.

As a result, Waxahachie climbed five spots to achieve the No. 2 position in the rankings, while Rockwall jumped eight spots to become ranked No. 7.
