The 2024 graduate is recognized for her impressive performance during her senior year, where she was named an All-District 26-5A First Team member. Zuniga demonstrated her scoring prowess by averaging 10.5 points per game and played a crucial role in leading the Lady Matadors. In addition to her scoring abilities, she also topped the team in assists and steals, showcasing her versatility as a player.

One of the highlight achievements of Zuniga’s senior year was the school record she set by making 101 three-point baskets over the course of 35 games. This feat averages out to 2.9 three-pointers per game, marking her as one of the sharpest shooters in the league.

Prior to her standout senior season, Zuniga received an all-district honorable mention during her junior year in 2023, further underscoring her growth as a basketball player. Her consistent performance caught the attention of college coaches, leading her to the University of Dallas, which competes in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference under the leadership of Coach Ty Adams.

The Crusaders women’s basketball team is coming off a 2024-25 season in which they finished with an overall record of 11-14. The addition of Zuniga could provide a much-needed boost to the team as they look to improve their performance in the upcoming season.

Desiree Zuniga’s path to joining the Crusaders was not only marked by her achievements on the court but also by her academic pursuits. After completing her studies at Seguin High, she focused on nursing studies at Texas Lutheran University.
