Grapevine, Texas – Arrests Made in Fatal Jet Ski Hit-and-Run Incident

An 18-year-old woman, Ava Moore, tragically lost her life after being struck by a jet ski while kayaking on Grapevine Lake during the Memorial Day weekend. The fatal incident occurred on Sunday, with Moore suffering from severe head trauma due to the collision.

The suspected driver of the jet ski, identified as 21-year-old Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez, was arrested on Tuesday. Alongside her, a second suspect, 21-year-old Maikel Coello Perozo, was taken into custody for allegedly assisting Gonzalez in fleeing the scene of the accident. Both Gonzalez and Perozo are Venezuelan nationals who entered the United States illegally after crossing the southern border between 2023 and 2024. Gonzalez is charged with second-degree felony manslaughter, reckless operation of a watercraft, excessive speed, and leaving the scene of an accident involving death. Perozo faces charges related to collision damages and hindering apprehension.
