Watkins was born on August 5, 1947, in Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Pearl Todd, as well as her beloved husband Terry Watkins, who passed away in December 2020 after 43 years of marriage. Glenda was the proud mother of three children – Kirsten Batson, married to Brent, Rodney Watkins, married to Susan, and Wendy Todd, married to Shane. She extended her legacy through her eight grandchildren: Jordan Batson, Breanne McNaughton, Jace Batson, Brittany Cox, Hunter Watkins, Grant Watkins, Grayson Todd, and Jaxson Todd. Additionally, Glenda was the adoring great-grandmother of seven: Brynn Batson, Andrew, Crew, Tatum Cox, Everly, Malcolm, and Walker Watkins.

Glenda’s early years were spent in Pecos and Dallas, where she graduated from W.W. Samuel High School. Throughout her life, she was known for her unwavering support and enthusiasm, cheering on her children and grandchildren at their sporting events and actively participating in her church community. She was also well-regarded for her love of games, particularly Wahoo, in which she displayed notable winning skills.

Glenda found joy in a variety of activities. She was an avid reader, particularly enjoying books by Janette Oke, and delighted in listening to music by Trace Adkins and The Gaithers. A trip to her favorite restaurant, El Fenix, for their famous bean and cheese nachos accompanied by a refreshing cold 7 Up was one of her simple pleasures. Additionally, she had a talent for selecting thoughtful birthday presents for her family and friends, showcasing her caring nature and attention to detail.

Final Arrangements

Family and friends will gather for a visitation and graveside service on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 9:00 AM. The service will take place at Laurel Land Memorial Park, located at 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232. A reading of John 11:25-26 from the Bible will be included in the service, reflecting Glenda’s strong faith and the comfort she found in her beliefs.
