Dallas honored numerous local organizations and healthcare professionals for their exceptional contributions to women’s and adolescent health at the Annual Symposium hosted by Healthy Futures of Texas from April 28-30. The nonprofit organization, dedicated to sexual and reproductive health, presented awards for outstanding efforts in health education, medical care, and advocacy aimed at improving the health outcomes of Texas adolescents and women.

The Community Partner Award was awarded to Dallas College Health Services and Promotion, acknowledging their significant role in promoting reproductive health and wellness. Under the leadership of Associate Dean Luz Gonzalez, the institution has notably expanded access to health education and resources for students.

Among the notable recipients of the Changemaker Awards, Dr. Taibat Eribo, the women’s health medical director at HHM Health, was recognized for her advocacy focused on enhancing access to contraceptive services. Her commitment to quality care and her role as a mentor have greatly improved healthcare experiences for numerous patients.

Kentoria Roberson-White, a nurse practitioner at Prism Health North Texas and the founder of Phoenix Health Alliance, also received a Changemaker Award. Her relentless support and dedication to community youth have facilitated better access to essential health resources, making a lasting impact on the community’s health landscape.

Micaela Sanchez, a women’s health nurse practitioner and founder of Comadre Health, was recognized for her innovative approach to reproductive healthcare. Providing same-day, free contraception, she emphasizes the importance of inclusive and accessible health services for all.

Trevon Oliver, program lead at Dallas College, was honored with the Rising Star Award due to his contributions to supporting minority male students and enhancing adolescent health. His initiatives have directly impacted the lives of over 10,000 students through educational workshops and community partnerships, fostering a culture of inclusion and leadership among young people.

Healthy Futures of Texas’s board member, Gary Ahr, expressed praise for the awardees, highlighting their dedication and ability to inspire change in adolescent and women’s health sectors. The awards symbolize a unified effort to acknowledge and honor those who strive for excellence in improving health outcomes for young people in Texas.

The Community Partner Award underscores the value of collaboration among organizations working to provide better health outcomes for adolescents. It recognizes the essential role of partnerships in the journey toward improved reproductive health services.

Similarly, the Changemaker Awards reflect the remarkable contributions made by individuals who strive to remove barriers in reproductive health, ensuring that access to care is possible for those who need it most. Each recipient exemplifies a commitment to both healthcare excellence and community engagement.

The Annual Symposium serves as a platform not only to honor these key figures but also to promote continued dialogue and collective efforts aimed at driving health advancements for women and youth in Texas. Through these awards, Healthy Futures of Texas aims to inspire others in the field to create impactful changes that promote healthier futures for all.
