Dallas Theater Center Unveils 2025-2026 Season Lineup

The Dallas Theater Center (DTC) has announced an exciting schedule for the 2025-2026 season, featuring five mainstage productions that include a mix of classic hits and contemporary pieces. The season is set to commence with the British farce Noises Off in October 2025, and will conclude with the world premiere of Malcolm X and Redd Foxx Washing Dishes at Jimmy’s Chicken Shack in Harlem in June 2026.

Key Productions and Dates

The season kicks off with Noises Off, running from October 3-26, 2025, at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. Following this, the critically acclaimed Fat Ham, a Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy that creatively adapts Shakespeare’s Hamlet, is scheduled for January 30-February 8, 2026, also at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. Another highlight of the season is Where We Stand, an interactive play where the audience shapes the storyline, scheduled for February 25-March 22, 2026, in Bryant Hall on the same campus.

The Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime, which explores the quest for the American Dream, will be performed at the Potter Rose Performance Hall at the Wyly Theatre from March 27-April 19, 2026. The season will cap off with Malcolm X and Redd Foxx Washing Dishes at Jimmy’s Chicken Shack in Harlem, which will run from May 8-June 7, 2026, at the Studio Theater in the Wyly Theatre. Additionally, DTC will present an annual holiday production of A Christmas Carol, taking place from November 28-December 28, 2025, in the Potter Rose Performance Hall at the Wyly Theatre, although it is not part of the subscription series.

Collaboration and Community Engagement

This upcoming season emphasizes collaboration, highlighted by a three-year partnership with Stage West Theatre of Fort Worth, through which they will co-produce both Fat Ham and Where We Stand. Furthermore, the DTC will collaborate with Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts and the Sexton Institute for Musical Theatre, bringing Ragtime to life within the first year of their partnership. The DTC will also continue its collaborative efforts with TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, Arkansas, which has been instrumental in the development of Jonathan Norton’s new work, Malcolm X and Redd Foxx Washing Dishes at Jimmy’s Chicken Shack in Harlem.

Moreover, the Dallas Theater Center will partner with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra for a special presentation called Shakespeare at the Symphony, showcasing music from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, performed at Bass Performance Hall.

New Talent and Accessibility Initiatives

Brianna “Bri” Woods has been announced as a new member of the Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company for the 2025-26 season. Woods, who has performed in previous DTC productions such as Waitress and A Christmas Carol, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. This season, the DTC will prioritize accessibility and community engagement with the goal of fostering joy, healing, and understanding through theater.

Vision and Goals for the Season

With a mission to cultivate a collaborative environment, the executive leadership at DTC, including Executive Director Kevin Moriarty, is dedicated to expanding opportunities for artists and reaching new audience segments. The goal for the upcoming season is to inspire meaningful conversations while adapting to the evolving cultural landscape, ensuring that theater remains vibrant and relevant in the community.

The Dallas Theater Center aims to captivate audiences with its eclectic offerings, blending classic and contemporary works, all while reinforcing its commitment to collaboration, community, and accessibility.
