According to reports, the altercation began when William Kistler, a 36-year-old companion of Long, inadvertently brushed against a parked Mercedes. Kendrick Finch, a 34-year-old passenger in the vehicle, exited with a firearm and opened fire on both Long and Kistler. Long sustained severe injuries and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, while Kistler survived the encounter.
