A representation of the unsanitary conditions found during recent health inspections in Dallas restaurants.
Dallas restaurants have experienced alarming failures during recent health inspections, with many establishments cited for unsanitary conditions, including the presence of rodents and roaches. During a period of inspections, several restaurants scored below acceptable health thresholds, prompting concerns among local residents about food safety. Notable offenders included I Love Pho Noodle Soup Grill and Ez Quick Mart, both demonstrating significant health code violations. Re-inspection protocols are now in place to address these issues, but the continuing presence of infestations raises critical health concerns.
Dallas has seen troubling failures in health inspections as multiple restaurants were found to be in violation of sanitary conditions, raising concerns among local residents. Reports indicate that several establishments scored below the acceptable threshold, with serious infractions including the presence of roaches and rodents detected in multiple locations.
During inspections conducted from June 22 to June 28, 2025, 175 restaurants were evaluated in Dallas. Under the city’s 100-point health inspection scoring system, a score of 100 is considered perfect, while any score below 70 is deemed failing. Restaurants that score below 80 must undergo a re-inspection. Notably, failing establishments are required to be reinspected within a 10-day period following sufficient corrective action.
Several restaurants emerged as significant offenders during this inspection period:
Furthermore, rat droppings were reported at additional establishments, including Pepe’s Corner Store (score: 74), Hong Kong Market (score: 78), Trinity Cafe & Grill (score: 91), and Crossroads Community Services (score: 92).
Roaches were specifically noted at several other restaurants, contributing to unsanitary conditions:
In another noteworthy incident, Kentucky Fried Chicken located at 106 W Illinois Ave. received a citation for grease trap overflow issues, further indicating a pattern of serious health and safety infraction within the food service sector.
In Tarrant County, similar health inspection concerns were reported, with one restaurant temporarily closed and evidence of roaches found at two other facilities. During the same reporting period, 150 inspections were performed in Tarrant County using a newly updated inspection format that mirrors the standards established by the Food Code.
Specifically, The Best Hot Dog (17 Davis Road, Crowley) had a score of 85 but was temporarily closed due to a lack of hot water, further highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by food establishments in maintaining health standards.
As health inspections continue in Dallas and Tarrant County, the presence of infestations and cleanliness violations raises critical concerns regarding food safety among consumers. With a framework for re-inspection and accountability in place, it remains to be seen how quickly these establishments will rectify their shortcomings to meet health standards and regain public trust.
