The assailant, identified as Kevin Dewayne Simmons, a 29-year-old homeless man, punched Dailey in the face, causing her to fall and suffer a bloody nose and bruises.

During police interrogation, Simmons expressed that “God told him to punch Dailey,” highlighting the concerning connection of mental health issues often seen in homeless populations.
