Dallas, Texas – The family of Derrik Alan Foote, a 35-year-old motorcyclist killed in a hit-and-run accident, is appealing for public assistance in identifying the driver responsible for the tragic incident that occurred on June 21 around 10:30 p.m. This hit-and-run was part of a particularly deadly weekend on Dallas County roads, which saw six fatality crashes, including two involving drivers who fled the scenes.
Foote was riding his white sports bike home to Ennis from a gathering in Grand Prairie when he was struck on eastbound Interstate 20, just past the Spur 408/Clark Road exit near Duncanville. After family members were unable to reach him later that night and throughout Sunday morning, concerns grew. Foote’s friend heard about a motorcycle crash via police scanners and became worried when Derrik did not show up for work. Tragically, confirmation of his death came the following Monday afternoon, when police contacted his father to identify his tattoos.
According to investigators, a silver four-door sedan is suspected of colliding with Foote’s motorcycle and continuing without stopping. It was reported that another vehicle subsequently struck Foote’s body after the initial collision, but that driver remained at the scene. Detectives currently possess limited information about the driver of the silver sedan and are asking anyone with dash camera footage from Interstate 20 during the timeframe between 10:20 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. on June 21 to come forward with any information.

Kirk Foote, Derrik’s father, expressed his devastation regarding the incident and struggled to comprehend how someone could leave the scene of such a serious accident.
