The crash took place around 4:34 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the Interstate 635 intersection when a 2020 Dodge Durango, traveling the wrong way, collided head-on with a 2018 Mercedes CLA250.
The driver of the Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene, while an unidentified passenger from the vehicle was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. A second passenger in the Mercedes sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities reported that the driver of the Dodge Durango was also hospitalized with serious injuries. It is suspected that intoxication may have played a role in the crash; however, it remains unclear whether any criminal charges will be filed against the driver.
