Dallas – Over a week after severe flooding impacted Central Texas, East Dallas businesses are stepping up to support relief efforts through various fundraising initiatives. The devastating floods led to significant property damage and displacement, prompting local companies to contribute in meaningful ways.

SusieCakes Bakery, located in Hillside Village, is contributing by selling Texas Flood Support Cupcakes. All net proceeds from the sales will be directed to Kerrville Pets Alive! and the Community Foundation — Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. Each cupcake is offered in chocolate or vanilla, topped with vanilla buttercream frosting and adorned with a red heart decoration. The cupcakes are sold in a four-pack, containing two of each flavor.

In the Knox-Henderson area, Milliard Diamond Concierge is offering a unique Texas Love Necklace, featuring a gold heart pendant set with a round peridot stone. All net proceeds from these jewelry sales will be donated to charities assisting Kerr County flood victims. The necklace is available online and is sold by appointment only.

Meanwhile, Bullzerk, a clothing shop in Lower Greenville, has launched a new T-shirt design titled “United In Love for the Hill Country.” Proceeds from this shirt will benefit the TEGNA Texas Flood Relief Fund, providing critical support to affected communities. The store is located at 1909 Greenville Ave.

Studio 6 Fitness, situated in Lakewood, is holding pop-up community donation classes with a fee of $25 per session. All earnings from these classes will go to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, and the fitness studio plans to match every dollar raised. Four sessions will be available throughout the week at their location on 7317 Gaston Ave.

Café Duro in Lower Greenville has also joined the effort by committing to donate a portion of its sales to the Texas Hill Country Flood Relief Fund through the end of July. This initiative aims to support ongoing relief efforts as communities recover. Café Duro can be found at 2804 Greenville Ave.

Additionally, Natural Grocers located in Casa Linda is facilitating donations to the American Red Cross’s regional flood relief efforts. Customers can contribute at the register in amounts of $1, $5, or $10, further adding to the collective support for flood victims. The store is at 9440 Garland Road in Casa Linda Plaza.

The flooding in Dallas has escalated into a significant crisis, with dramatic images of vehicles submerged in floodwaters, particularly around the Baylor Hospital campus. Local council member Paul Ridley has remarked on the inadequacy of the area’s drainage system, originally constructed nearly a century ago, which now struggles to cope with contemporary levels of water runoff and new developments.

Relief efforts are also being bolstered by the Mill Creek Drainage Relief Tunnel project, which is currently 80% complete and expected to become operational by March 2027. This infrastructure aims to improve drainage conditions during future heavy rainfalls.

In a bid to assist those impacted by the floods, U-Haul is providing 30 days of complimentary self-storage and U-Box container usage for residents affected by the flooding in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area. This disaster relief program is available for new self-storage and U-Box rentals based on availability, with numerous U-Haul locations throughout East Dallas and surrounding Texas areas participating.

As recovery efforts continue, the collective initiatives from East Dallas businesses exemplify community solidarity in the face of adversity, helping to bring some relief to those most affected by the flooding.
