Dallas – One suspect died and four others were injured, including two Dallas police officers, after a carjacking resulted in a police chase and subsequent crash early Friday morning. The incident unfolded overnight, beginning with a carjacking reported around 1:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of Dale Crest Drive.
According to authorities, three juvenile males allegedly stole a Ford Mustang at gunpoint during the carjacking. Officers swiftly located the stolen vehicle when they observed the suspects making a stop at a gas station shortly after the crime was reported. When police attempted to apprehend the suspects, they fled the scene, leading to a brief pursuit.
The chase escalated as the suspects drove recklessly on the wrong side of Northwest Highway. The stolen Mustang collided head-on with a police SUV just north of Dallas Love Field Airport around 2 a.m. Following the collision, all three juvenile suspects were transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
Tragically, one of the suspects succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash, while two others remain in serious condition. The two police officers involved in the incident were also taken to Parkland Hospital. They were reported to be responsive at the time of their admission, although one officer suffered serious injuries. Fortunately, both officers have since been released from the hospital.
Due to their status as minors, the names and ages of the juvenile suspects have not been disclosed. The identities of the injured police officers are also being withheld from release.
