The school has transformed its hallways into a vibrant setting resembling an airport runway, adorned with planes and clouds. This decorative initiative aims to motivate students by stimulating their enthusiasm for learning. Maria Avila, a 1st-grade bilingual teacher, recognizes the positive impact of a colorful environment, noting that such decorations play a key role in encouraging students to attend school excitedly each day. The school has previously adopted various themes, including “Candyland” and “Cultivating World Leaders.”

Given the challenges posed by high crime rates in the Vickery Meadow area, creating a warm and welcoming environment for students remains a priority. Marisol Garcia-Undiano, a 2nd-grade bilingual teacher, highlights the necessity of fostering a joyful and safe learning space. With contributions from her team, Garcia-Undiano plans to decorate the 2nd-grade hallways with hot air balloons and sunsets, aiming to instill pride among students by showcasing their work throughout the year.

To encourage student engagement, Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary involves students in determining future school themes. Students have the opportunity to submit their ideas and vote on them, ensuring their voices are heard before they graduate from 5th grade.
