The victim has been identified as the business owner, and a suspect, believed to be a woman, was taken into custody following the incident. Eyewitnesses reported hearing approximately six gunshots during the confrontation, with many customers and employees present in the area at the time.

A witness, who was shopping in the mall with her son, estimated there were around 30 people in the vicinity when the shooting took place. Reports indicate that prior to the gunfire, the suspect was conversing with the victim behind the register of the cookie shop. This interaction escalated into a verbal argument, which quickly turned physical.

According to witnesses, the suspect jumped over the counter and shot the victim twice in the head at close range. It has been confirmed that the shooting was targeted, as it was revealed that the victim had a restraining order against the suspect. Following the altercation, the suspect fled the scene but later surrendered to the Arlington Police.

Emergency services, including Dallas Fire-Rescue, responded promptly to the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead upon their arrival. In the aftermath of the incident, stores within the mall were placed on lockdown as law enforcement secured the area.
